Founded by Toshi Woudenberg, TOSHI WORKS is a design practice inspired by nature and the human experience. I work at the intersection of conceptual ambition and the realities of construction and delight in the possibilities that follow. I advocate for design as an exploration and expression of our deepest values, placing beauty and meaning at the center of my work.

I moved to Lisbon after ten-plus years of practice largely set in New York City, where I worked with O’Neill Rose, Thread Collective, Frances Mildred, and Nick Waldman Studio. My professional experience includes urban apartments, historic townhouses, timber-frame homes, and coastal residences. I bring expertise in site analysis, feasibility, conceptual design, sustainability, building science, documentation, and construction.

I earned my Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon, where as a Research Fellow I studied the relationship between design and environmental performance. Prior to Oregon I attended Hampshire College in the Pioneer Valley, where my early interest in environmental science and architecture led me to work for BuildingGreen in Brattleboro, Vermont. More recently I’ve taught college-level coursework at the Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Waitsfield, Vermont. In addition to my own projects, I freelance for US-based architectural practices offering design and documentation services.

A native of Goffstown, New Hampshire, I split my time between Lisbon and New York. I love mountain biking, sleeping under the stars and making food with friends.
